I'm moving to Tampa Bay and Need to Find a Job!

Finding Employment upon your Tampa Bay Move

If you're relocating to Tampa Bay and you haven't won a recent Powerball lottery, there's a good chance you’re still working and will need to locate a new job. The Tampa Bay economy has been very robust in recent years with an unemployment rate in the mid 3% range. The sectors which drive Tampa economy are Tourism & Hospitality, Healthcare, Professional Services and Real Estate. Our downtown is booming with new projects and construction cranes just about everywhere you look. For your convenience, I've listed the largest Hillsborough and Pinellas County employers below as well as our top and best employers by industry.

Locating a Job as a non-Florida Resident

As a Realtor, clients often ask about the best way to get a job in Tampa while still living residing outside of our state. Do Tampa employers give preference to the local candidates? Should I move to the area first? Should I find the job before moving to Tampa? These are all typical questions I am commonly asked. My best response is to be honest with employers and to them know that you are in the relocation process and that you'll be in town to interview in person on certain days, as well as fully available for phone and/or skype interviews while still living outside our state. Let prospective employers know your planned move date as they most often have a start date associated for a position. If you are a qualified candidate and have the specific skills they are looking for, they will work with you to make it happen!
